About Us

Lambournes is owned by Robert and Karen Preston. We're a traditional local butchers, renowned for locally-produced meat, poultry and game. Our customers are made up of both regular local residents and tourists who stay in the Cotswolds. Our shop has been a butchers for 100 years, and at one time included a slaughterhouse round the back.

A key concern for us and our customers is traceability and we can honestly say where all our meat is from. No order is too big or small: you can buy one chop rather than a pre-packaged quantity at the supermarket, or we can make bigger orders for an event. People often comment on the traditional, old-fashioned cuts we use, and ask advice about how to cook a certain meat.

Our team

Robert Preston learned his trade in the Oxford covered market before freelancing at a number of different butchers to build his skills. This was followed by a game business catering for local restaurants, before wanting to open a traditional butchers shop in the Cotswolds. As BBC's Adam Henson puts it, "what Bob doesn't know about sausages isn't worth knowing".

Karen owns Lambournes with Robert. Having worked in the shop for over six years, Karen is now busy looking after our youngest employee Will, but still provides the personal touch looking after the accounts and providing holiday cover.

Jan works 'front of house' serving our customers and has worked for us for four years. She's deli-trained and our Recipe Queen, always full of knowledge for customers who want help with their cooking! Her award-winning sausages include Stilton and Mushroom, Port and Cranberry, and Orange and Ginger.
